I am having some trouble with the Vista Beta I bought. I am using it in a Media Center fashion and I was trying to hook up my XBOX (Original) Media center extender with vista. ( I had it originally working with Media Center 2005). When I launch the media center extender connect program within MC Vista. It says it does not see the XBOX. My Xbox is turned and is at the screen where you type in the number to attach it. Any Ideas? thanks for your help

XBOX Extender Program does not find XBOX
According to the release notes for 5456,
Xbox 360 as a Media Center Extender
Support for Xbox 360 as a Media Center extender is not included in this Vista build. In order to continue using the Xbox 360 as a Media Center Extender with Vista, please remain on Beta 2 (build 5384). Support for the Xbox 360 as an Extender will be available in a future Vista build.
Are you running build 5456? If so you should be posting this to the TechBeta newsgroups since those are the only people who have access to 5456. The folks in this public beta are still running build 5384 and none too happy about not having access to 5456.

Hi Rodney,
Sorry to have to say that Vista MCE does not work with the original Xbox. It only works with the Xbox 360. I was in the same position myself and ended up building a second computer out of spare parts for use with MCE 2005 and my two Gen 1 Xbox's
